This time we decided not to follow tradition to release a new version of FlowVision software before New Year. However...
However, at the beginning of December we launched testing of a betta-version of FlowVision 3.08. This version of FlowVision contains new physical models, new features and improved algorithms. Heroic betta-testers help us ameliorate FlowVision and make its interface more comfortable. All the active Heros will be rewarded after the testing will be over at the end of January 2011!

I’d like to summarize the main achievements of the FlowVision team in 2010:
1. This year FlowVision learned to solve very complex problems. Now a problem with 10 000 000 mesh cells is considered as a medium one. A big problem now implies 100 000 000 cells. I want to express our gratitude to the staff of Scientific Computational Center at Moscow State University (SCC MSU) and, personally, to academician Vladimir Voevodin. Accesses to super-computer “Lomonosov” helped us debug FlowVision on big grids and large number of processors.
2. In 2010, FlowVision was integrated with optimization software IOSO (www.iosotech.com). Together with Sigma-Technology Ltd., SCC MSU, and TsAGI, we developed a solution for clusters and GRID-medium. This solution enables aero-hydrodynamic shape optimization of an object of arbitrary complexity. The work was done with financial support of the Russian Ministry of Science and Education.
3. Due to international (Russia+Belorussia) project SKIF-Grid, FlowVision learned to work in GRID-medium.
4. FlowVision now contains new physical models: gas combustion, mixing of unlimited number of species accompanied with chemical reactions, radiation, anisotropic heat transfer.
5. We essentially improved our traditional models: Gap and VOF.
6. We introduced new wall functions, which allow accurate solving aero-hydrodynamic problems and catching flow separation on a relatively coarse mesh.
7. FlowVision is now completely ready for solving complex problems of heat transfer in microelectronics. Our engineers calculated the temperature distribution in a real cell phone assembly containing 250 details! The mesh size was 30 000 000 cells. Calculations have been performed on 64 processors, 4 cores each.
8. Our engineers and specialists from Space Rocket Corporation “Energia” investigated aerodynamics of a new re-entry capsule with use of FlowVision.
9. This year FlowVision was used for a new application: modeling the rescue system for the fighter jet pilots and calculation of heat transfer in a cosmonaut exposure suit.
Dear FlowVision users, all these innovations were done for your productive work and successful promotion at your companies / universities!
On behalf of the FlowVision team, I congratulate you with New 2011 Year!
I wish you and your families happiness, health, and only pleasant creative problems!
Let 2011 be better than 2010! Let your country, using FlowVision and with our technical support, create something new and extremely useful for every body!
Sincerely,
Andrey Aksenov
