The last version of FV3: FlowVision 3.06.0

The following corrections and supplements are done in FlowVision version 3.06.00 build 09.09.2008:

  1. Solver:
    1. 64-bit version of Solver for Windows and Linux is issued. The version is completely compatible with the 32-bit one.
    2. The algorithm for building the initial grid is improved: now it works faster and uses less memory.
    3. Usage of memory in storing the grid in parallel calculations is reduced.
    4. Possibility to manually decompose the grid onto processors is introduced.
    5. The scalability of the parallel solver is essentially augmented by means of changing the algorithms for grid decomposition and cell numeration.
    6. Usage of the disk space in saving the computed data is reduced approximately in 4 times.
    7. Possibility to stop calculations after the solution is converged (i. e. a Stopping criterion based on a Residual or User value is met) is provided to a user.

    9. A bug manifested itself in calculations with Rotation is eliminated.
    10. Turbulence:
      1. The principle of limiting k, e, w, and turbulence viscosity from below and above is changed.
      2. Turbulence generation in the free surface cells is cancelled.
      3. SST model: account of compressibility is introduced.
      4. SST model: account of streamline curvature is introduced.
      5. SST model: correction to coefficient F2 (present in the expression for the turbulent viscosity) is introduced.
      6. SA model: an error is corrected.
      7. Account of the wall roughness: an error is corrected.
  2. Pre-Postprocessor
    1. Parameters responsible for displaying a Preprocessor Object are moved to Postprocessor.
    2. Possibility to create Characteristics in Preprocessor is provided to a user.
    3. Possibility to create Layers on the Preprocessor Objects is provided to a user.
    4. Translucency property is introduced for most of Layers and Objects.
    5. Possibility to controll displaying separate parts of a Solid is provided to a user.
    6. Functionality of toolbar Solids is improved.
    7. Possibility to create a Stopping criterion based on a Preprocessor Characteristics is provided to a user.
    8. Possibility to specify the centre of rotation of the Scene is provided to a user.
    9. List of the variables in Postprocessor is rearranged. Now a user can see the distribution of a variable common for several phases.
    10. Functionality of Layers and Objects is extended.
    11. Layers Color contours and Isolines are merged into Layer Color contours.
    12. Overall rendering is accelerated by using modern graphical accelerators.
    13. Turbulence:
      1. 3 parameters are added on page Preprocessor -> Phase#i -> Physical processes -> Turbulence.
      2. 5 parameters are added to folder Solver -> Advanced -> Turbulence.
  3. Viewer
    1. Possibility to save images is provided to a user.
  4. License Manager
    1. Dongle support is brought into effect (for Windows only).
  5. Installation
    1. 64-bit solver is added on the installation disk.
    2. Possibility to install Solver-Agent and License Manager as services is introduced (under Windows only).
  6. Coupling with Abaqus
    1. Couping with Abaqus in the Direct Coupling regime is implemented.
    2. A new MP Manager is developed. It enters the standard installation.
